Verified Places

For Our Visitors

When you see the Verified badge, it means we've personally visited and vetted the establishment. It is our way of saying: we went there ourselves, and it is what the listing says it is.

A verification visit checks four things: consistency (the place delivers the same standard on a normal day, not just a good one), quality (food, rooms or service hold up), hygiene, and the overall experience of visiting as a regular customer. Visits are anonymous; the business does not know we are coming.

"Unverified" places are still listed because they are popular or essential. Absence of the badge means we have not completed a visit yet, not that something is wrong.

Where the Badge Appears

Verified places carry the badge on their page in every section of the site: restaurants and cafes in Eat, hotels and guesthouses in Stay, and businesses in the Find directory.

For Businesses

Own a hotel, restaurant, cafe or shop in Malé City? Verification shows visitors that an independent guide has checked your business in person.

The process: email us with your business name and location. Our team makes an anonymous visit and runs a standard compliance check. Once complete, the badge appears on your listing.

Common Questions

What does the Verified badge on Malé Travel Guide mean?

It means our team has personally visited the place and vetted it for consistency, quality, hygiene and the overall experience. The badge shows on the place's page across the site.

Are places without the badge worse?

Not necessarily. Unverified places are listed because they are popular or essential; we simply have not completed a verification visit for them yet.

How does a business get verified?

Email verification@maletravelguide.com with the business name and location. Verification involves an anonymous visit by our team and a standard compliance check; once complete, the badge appears on the listing.
