Tsunami Monument

A steel monument on Malé's southeast seafront remembering the victims of the 26 December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami: a spiral of metal spheres climbing a curved column of vertical rods. The plaza around it has been relandscaped with benches and young trees, and locals gather here in the evenings for the sea breeze and the sunset over the water.
